What is the cause of the increase in autism?

The claims of scientists according to the factors which cause autism vary dramatically. Opinions range from genetic to environmental causes which seem very likely to explain why so much concern has risen around the problem these days. Very frequently vaccines alongside with GM food are accused of causing mental disorders. The increase in use of pesticides in the fields coincides with the rising tendency of autism which inclines scientists to believe that the outer influence is dominant for developing condition. Besides, exposure to WI-FI, electromagnetic fields, air pollution from the major roads are believed to make a certain impact upon the health of children. However, all factors given above do not provide a comprehensive explanation why exactly in the recent years figures started to grow alarmingly fast.

Taking into account information given above, there still remain opinions which do not support theories of the effect of negative environmental exposure. These researchers claim that the system of diagnosing autism has significantly changed since twenty years ago. Much more physical parameters and symptoms indicating towards autism spectrum disorder were included to the examination,  consequently, much more children were diagnosed with the disorder. Proponents of this evidence point out that comparing past and present figures cannot provide fair conclusions, as a great percentage of children diagnosed at the present time would not be even considered to have autism some decades ago.

Obviously, groundbreaking changes have loomed a start of the twenty-first century and changed quality of our lives. Potential harm of modern realities has not been thoroughly investigated previously so that we cannot define to which particular exposure we owe increasing number of illnesses. Though all approaches towards causes of autism seem vague even now, we shall not exclude harmful influence of the external factors on it.
