Critical Incident

I had been a teacher for almost two years. My confidence in the classroom had immensely grown over time, making me considerably effective in my work. Further, I had begun taking additional roles with my students, besides regular teaching. This included providing guidance and mentorship to the students. I would engage actively in extra-curricular activities together with the students in the hope that I could become their role model. Also, I would share my life experiences with them believing that somehow I could motivate them in life.

Nature vs Nurture

Introduction

Prenatal development is the phase of development from the time of conception to the time of delivery. This process is divided into three major stages; the main stages are the germinal stage, the embryonic stage and the fetal stag (Solmonson, Mullerner, &Eckstein, 2009, Ch. 1)

The germinal stage
This is the stage at which the baby is formed or conceived. This refers to the first three weeks after conception this stages is characterized by the union of the sperm with the ova in the fallopian tube, at this stage the cell division begins this process last for two week and ends when the implantations is over. During this stages nature takes it course as the women starts to have feelings that makes the things she used to like become unpalatable. During these stages there are a number of environmental influences on the development of the baby, even at the stage of blastocyst.

Generalized Traffic Sign Detection Model for Developing a Sign Inventory

Peer-Review of Generalized Traffic Sign Detection Model for Developing a Sign Inventory by Yichang James Tsai; Pilho Kim; and Zhaohua Wang
A traffic sign is pictogram which is composed of graphical symbols such as images and/or texts. Traffic signs explore different shapes, colors, content, and texture so as to attract the attention of drivers. The use of traffic signs has undergone a significant development as many signs of different colors and shapes are being invented. According to this article, the process of using manual effort in collecting various traffic signs is continually becoming cumbersome. Sign inventory is a very fundamental step in the roadway management. This paper seeks to explore the various codes that are used in sign detection which then aid in sign management. The paper shall exclude the aspect of evaluation of the condition of the traffic signs since this is not part of sign inventory. The transportation asset management is responsible for the traffic signs. There are more than 670 MUTCD codes that are used in detecting various traffic signs. Given such numerous numbers of codes there is need for a more generalized model which can aid in classifying a whole class of traffic signs. This will help to replace the manual work of collecting traffic signs which is also very labor intensive and time consuming. However, finding the general approach in sign inventory and just few efforts can be traced in the vast history of road management.
As stated above, there are more than 670 MUTCD codes. This implies a general sign traffic model has to incorporate numerous pictographic features so as to be to detect all types of traffic signs. The model should also be able to separate complex background features from the actual traffic sign. This calls for a higher level of precision in the model.

Discussion Questions

Question 1: Does the technology used in an organization affect the organizational culture?

Technology scope that can be adopted in an organization is vast, ranging from something which is simple, like buying a PC with a word processor to investing in the latest state of the art computer aided machinery. In spite of, the system complexity or the organization’s size, crucial thing is certain- the incorporation of any information system or technology shall accompany change. Deliberately, I have not stated that they will lead to change since the revere is also true. Technological system implementation can act either as a change catalyst or be the mean of attaining a desired organizational change. Regardless of the motivation, an ideally integrated IS shall take into account the organizational impact before it is put into place (Shane, 2009).

Discuss and Analyse the role or the involvement of women in Nigeria Politics in the Post Independence Period

ABSTRACT
The country Nigeria, located in the heart of Western Africa is popularly known for its culture and filming famously “Afro-sinema”.(Akande,1979:17). Apart from this diverse culture, like any other country in Africa, Nigeria was colonized by British in their attempt to stop slave trade. Key leaders worked effortlessly to get their independence back in 1960 and women like Moremi Ajasoro were not left behind. Religiously, Nigeria has two main dominions i.e. Islam and Christianity. In both cases, the role of an African woman has always been nurturing. A woman can not be educated; a woman can not be a leader. For Islam, women leaders are a blur. If they are deprived off their freedom of worship by not going to the mosque, how are they to be voted in as leaders? By analyzing the root source of discrimination for women through study of Nigerian culture, solutions will easily be reached. Through study of past historical data and by conducting interviews on random Nigerian students and women accurate, reliable data will be extracted (Pitin ,1990:32).
